RAGBRAI is a 7 day bike ride from one small Iowa town to another. We start at the Missouri River and finish at the old Miss. It is usually hot, it usually rains, and there will be more and bigger hills than you think. It is a CAMPING event. If you can secure a bed in a motel, house, or motorhome, congratulations, you should go directly to Vegas. Remember, we have been through overnights where RAGBRAI doubled the population..... 5 times over. The food can be very, very good if you search for the local churches offerings, and seriously bad if you eat pizza out of a 1976 Chevy van in rural Poweshiek County. Toilets are KYBOS, or porta potties, Jiffy Johns, you know, the kind at construction sites. Don’t worry. By day five you have no dignity left. That said, if you like riding a bike, enjoy meeting new people and have a full week in July to do nothing but those two things, it WILL BE the time of your life.
