January 23rd, 2012            RAGBRAI registration information

Hello All,

It is time to start making preparations for RAGBRAI XL (July 22^nd 28^th, 2012).  The Grinnell Bicycle Club is going to apply for credentials again this year, and this message is for those interested in joining our group for RAGBRAI registration. Note: Grinnell College alumni should read the message below under “Other Important Information”.

 Please follow the step-by-step directions listed below to assure that your registration is processed correctly.

1.  Sign up for the Grinnell Bicycle Club.  Membership in the Club is $15 for individual OR family membership. 
2.  Go to www.ragbrai.com and register for RAGBRAI under the group number 11923 Grinnell Bicycle Club.  If you registered last year your information should be saved.  If not, you can create a new profile and then register. 

3. NEW for this year, you will electronically sign your waiver no need to mail the waiver to the club. 

4. Send two checks made out to Grinnell Bicycle Club, your club membership application,  second for your RAGBRAI registration fee. The RAGBRAI web site calculates this latter amount for you. It varies from person to person because you may purchase different items - souvenirs, jersey, etc.  Mail club membership form, AND two checks so that they arrive by February 29^th to:

5. Note that only one entry is allowed per person.   If any person attempts to apply through both our group and directly to RAGBRAI, everyone on each application will be rejected by RAGBRAI.  THIS WOULD NOT BE GOOD!!

6. WAIVERS. MEMBERSHIP FORMS, AND CHECKS NEED TO BE MAILED SO THAT THEY GET TO ME BY FEBRUARY 28th, 2012.

Other Important Information:

• We are not guaranteed credentials.  Our group registration is in the lottery as others are -- although we have yet to be turned down.
• Grinnell College ALUMNI: 
1. The jersey mentioned above is from the Des Moines Register, not the Grinnell College jersey which needs to be purchased through the College Bookstore (641-269-3424).  I’ll send you information on ordering those at a later date. 
2. We are changing our registration process this year and will run it through the bicycle club as mentioned above. 
• You can check the RAGBRAI website in May to see your wrist band number.
• We will hold bike, wrist, baggage bands and any jerseys you order for your pickup at Bikes To You unless you request them by mail.  There will be a $10.00 charge to cover the cost of mailing.
• There will be no refunds on unused credentials from the Grinnell Bicycle Club.
• Bikes To You will be sending Charter information out separately.
