Q: Does your charter include credentials?
A: No, You must sign up for credentials separate from our charter. You may do so as an individual through the IOWASRIDE.com
Q: How do I sign up for your charter?
A: We will be launching our sign up shortly and will post a link here as well as have a sign up portal on our charter sign up page. We use Eventbright for our charter signup.
Q: How do I get to the campsite?
A: We will send out maps with the campsite sometime in July and will have signs posted from the beginning of the town to our campsite each day. An example of our sign is on the right side of the page.
We are excited to announce we will be using Ride with GPS so our maps will now be interactive and you will have turn by turn directions with the maps.
Q: Where will Bikes To You’s IOWA'S RIDE Charter start?
A: Our IOWA'S RIDE Charter originate from Grinnell and the end town. If you are joining us in Grinnell we encourage all our riders to spend the night before and after in Grinnell and enjoy our wonderful small town.
Q: Can I fly in?
A: Yes. We offer an airport shuttle service from Des Moines for $50. Please fly into Des Moines International Airport the Friday before and fly out the Sunday after. We will pick you up and drop you off. You can sign up when you sign up for the Charter Service.
Q: What if a friend wants to join?
A: We offer a referral program. For every new customer that writes your name down as the person who referred them; you will receive a $25 gift card to our store.
Q: Where can I spend the night in Grinnell
A: Spaulding Inn Bed & Breakfast, Carriage House Bed & Breakfast, Hotel Grinnell and Marsh House Bed & Breakfast are all within walking distance. Click the link below for contact information.
Q: Can I just ride a few days?
A: Yes. If you are joining mid-week and leaving mid-week you will need to find transportation to and from the ride.
Q: How do I charge my phone while on IOWA'S RIDE?
A: We have two charging stations in our campsite for people to charge their electronics.
Q: What should I pack?
A: This is dependent on what level of service you have signed up for. Below is a list of what you need to either pack or have arrangements for someone to provide.
- Sleeping bag or other bedding
- Sleeping pad, air-mattress, or cot
- Bicycling clothing (we suggest at least three sets of riding clothing, many prefer to have one per day) We suggest that each day's clothing is packed in gallon zip-lock bags. Tents are not tsunami proof.
- Casual clothing for evening
- Something warm. Pack at least one pair of pants and a sweatshirt. Iowa summer evenings can be cool.
- Sunscreen, shampoo, soap, deodorant, towel
- Cycling shoes (if you own them)
If you are on our tent service or In Style you may remove the sleeping pad, tent, and camp chair from your list.
